This time, one of our - satisfied - customers speaks: the Goyer Golf & Country Club, which has been using our services since 2020.
The Goyer Golf & Country Club in Eemnes, the Netherlands, comprises an 18-hole Championship Course and a 6-hole Executive Course. The golf club has its greens worked on once a year with VGR Verschoor’s TopChanger. Head greenkeeper John van den Bosse: “We did this for the first time in 2020. Then the greens were treated spot by spot. That went down very well, both with us and with the members. That's why we then hired the TopChanger again.”
One pass
VGR Verschoor has now traveled to the Goyer four times with the TopChanger. Every year, all greens are treated with the TopChanger. The TopChanger shoots water into the soil under high pressure, creating holes. These holes are filled with sand in the same pass. John: “In the past, I sometimes worked with a machine where you can only use dried sand. That still caused some hassle. With the TopChanger, it doesn't matter if sand is wet, because you insert it with water. That works easily.”
Ideal solution
VGR Verschoor also provides a driver when hiring the machine. That’s a big advantage, says the head greenkeeper. “For us, it is ideal. One of our employees fills the machine, and VGR Verschoor takes care of the rest. We also know exactly what it costs to hire them.” About six greens are treated per day, so on an 18-hole golf course, the TopChanger has about three days’ work.
Tight into winter
John van den Bosse is very satisfied with working with the TopChanger. “The water drainage is definitely better. We have a disturbing layer after five to seven centimeters. With this machine, we get through that easily and everything is filled up immediately. The big advantage is that we go into winter dense. And a day after treatment the green is already well playable, a week later you hardly see it anymore.” John: “We will continue to use the TopChanger. The golfers are very happy with it and that's what we do it for!”
